SlowDance

ABOUT: slowDANCE is a queer-led performance cooperative with a process-forward mindset. We are an artistic home for sustainable process and serious play in performance. We cultivate abundance for artists through performance opportunities, resource sharing, and new work development. We trust slowness as a practice, collective abundance as a purpose, and play as a facilitator of change. We employ creative strategies to sustainably and equitably produce performance work and redistribute resources directly back to artists making work without strings attached, such as free feedback workshares, second-hand and hand-made merch sales, and unconventional performance art curations in partnership with local queer spaces. 

What we do: We make dance and physical theater work: ranging from installations, site-specific, clowning, evening length works, and puppetry. We also make visual art work, including second-hand garments with hand-printed linocut block prints and wire jewelry and sculpture. 

Get involved: 

slowSHARE: Free, open events where performance artists can show work-in-process in an open-rehearsal format while sharing a potluck meal! Following each piece, we facilitate a gentle, guided, Liz Lerman-style feedback conversation. The goal of slowSHARE is to foster meaningful and constructive conversations about each other’s work to support long-term process and artistic development..
